The world’s first scented stamp was issued from the Government of Bhutan January 30, 1973.
Over one year development work was taken by the Government’s printer’s to develop on impregnated paper a lasting and nondestructable ink which incorporated the actual smell of roses. This process had never been used in postage stamp production and the Government of Bhutan was proud to be the first to release this revolutionary innovation.
The series consisted of six denominations, four postage and two airmail:
