The record for using the unlikeliest materials is held by Bhutan which issued circular metal foil embossed coin stamps, laminated prismatic ribbed plastic three dimensional stamps, relief surfaced stamps simulating the rough texture of oil paintings, silk rayon for the banner set, bas relief plastic moulded stamps and scent-impregnated paper for the rose set.
The ultimate was the set released in the form of miniature gramophone records which played the national anthem and provided a commentary on the history of the country. This essay in talking stamps has not been repeated anywhere else.
