King Jigme Wangchuck, father of King Jigme Wangchuck ascended the throne of Bhutan in 1926 and brought an era of prosperity and happiness to his subjects. Commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the accession, Bhutan issued Gold Coins struck at the Royal Mint, London England. The coins bear the portrait profile head of King Jigme Wangchuck on the obverse and the crossed Dorji ( sacred thunderbolts ) on the reverse.
The Gold Coin Stamps commemorate the above important event. On them are reproduced the obverse and the reverse of the 1 Sertum, 2 Sertum and 5 Sertum gold coins.
